Atma Artisan Spotlight: Duber Osorio

Atma Beauty is brimming with talented artisans and Duber Osorio is one of them. If you’ve been fortunate enough to have your hair done by this guy, you know what we’re talking about.

Originally from Medellin, Colombia, Duber started off his career as a banker, but discovered his passion for hair in his mid-thirties and never looked back! Duber has now been in the hair business for 13 years!

On what he loves about Atma Life:

The energy of this place is incredible, it’s young, friendly and full of talent. The quality of the people that work here is amazing. We are so many and we learn from each other every day. Not to mention the visitors that come to Atma from other cities and hair salons to share their techniques with us! The location of the place is another plus, I like to call it “the healthy corner of South Beach.

On what he’s passionate about:

My clients ask me all the time, what do you prefer to cut, men or women? I always answer it’s not about gender it’s more about the challenge! Of course, cutting long hair and creating beautiful layers and a wonderful body with brushes and rollers is fun. But what I really love are those short haircuts that are challenging. They show everything so you need to be very careful, watching the form, the shape, the texture, the details, the styling. I am passionate about working in these short hairstyles.

On his best advice for beautiful summer hair:

Hair during the Miami summer is a little challenging.The humidity causes frizziness in most hair types. What I suggest is stop blow drying! Unless it’s a very important event why bother? Wear it curly, or wavy. Find the right product to enhance those waves, apply after wash and let hair air dry, pull out the linen scarfs and hats! Make sure to wear a moisturizing or leave in conditioner cream in your hair and braid it or bun it while in the pool, at the beach or just simply at brunch.
